MEC Madoda Sambatha launches Optical Laboratory and CT Scan, 9 Nov
North West Health MEC Madoda Sambatha to launch optical laboratory and CT scan at Mahikeng provincial hospital in Ngaka Modiri Molema district
North West MEC for Health, Madoda Sambatha will launch the state of art Optical Laboratory and CT Scan at Mahikeng Provincial Hospital on 09 November 2021 in Ngaka Modiri Molema District. This is one of the four laboratories located across the districts aimed at improving the provision of refractive error and low vision services in the province.
“There is a shortage of skilled service providers for eye-care services in the majority of healthcare facilities due to shortage of Ophthalmic nurses, Optometrists and Ophthalmologists therefore launching of Optical Laboratories in each district will assist by receiving refractive error clients referred for spectacles or any eye-care related services by hospitals” said MEC Madoda Sambatha
The launch is planned as follows:

The MEC will also use the occasion to officially announce the renovations of 34 clinics across the province as committed during the Department of Health 2021/22 Budget Vote Speech.
