France is part of Burkina’s security problem, government

Burkina Faso is increasingly convinced that France is part of the security problem that has affected it for eight years, said government spokesman Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, in response to President Emmanuel Macron who believes that the country of honest men owes its existence to the French army.

“We are curious to know more about the results of the engagement of the French forces which would have allowed Burkina Faso to continue to exist. We are more and more convinced on the contrary that France is part of our problem”, said Thursday evening the spokesman of the Burkinabè government Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, reached by telephone by the AIB.

The minister was reacting to the words of the President of the French Republic Emmanuel Macron who told Le Point that without the Serval and then Barkhane operations, there would undoubtedly be no more Mali and Burkina Faso and perhaps no more Niger.

As a reminder, Burkina Faso demanded and obtained at the end of March 2023, the departure of the French special forces of Operation Saber from its territory, convinced that it can only win the war against terrorism by relying on its own daughters and sons and on the support of sincere partners.

The Republic of Mali had done the same thing in 2021 and the new authorities of the Republic of Niger, who came to power at the end of July 2023, also requested the departure of French troops from their territory.
