Burkina: Institutional reforms, security and sport on the newspaper menu

The Burkinabè dailies this Monday deal with the 2nd stage of the reconquest tour, the securing of the territory and the support of the religious and customary people of the Cascades requested by the Prime Minister.

“Institutional reforms: The Prime Minister seeks support from the religious and customary people of the Cascades” headlines the national daily Sidwaya.

Sidwaya informs that the head of government, Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélem of Tambela, during an audience granted to customary and religious authorities and to a delegation of dozos from the waterfalls region, took the opportunity to explain to them the vision of conduct of the transition and the actions taken to achieve it.

He informs that during this meeting the Prime Minister made known one of the government’s ambitions which concerns rural development because he is convinced that the development of our country is based on agriculture.

The private newspaper Le Pays, for its part, indicates that according to the head of government the desire to focus on agriculture is felt through the adoption of the Presidential Initiative for Agricultural Production 2023-2024 which aims to ensure food self-sufficiency.

The Country emphasizes that after listing the actions undertaken for the reconquest of our territory, the Prime Minister insisted on the fact that traditional and religious leaders have a fundamental role to play in the fight against terrorism.

From another angle, the dean of private dailies L’Observateur Paalga shows on its headline: “Raid in Houet and Cascades: 65 terrorists killed”.

According to a press release from the Directorate of Communication and Public Relations of the Armed Forces published in the newspaper, the 7th Rapid Intervention Battalion (7th BIR ) conducted a raid from August 7 to September 1 on several landmarks in Kénédougou, Houet and Cascades.

He adds that the cumulative results of the various actions carried out show more than sixty-five (65) terrorists neutralized.

On the same subject and according to the same source, the private daily Le Pays reports that very large quantities of weapons, ammunition, food, rolling stock and means of communication were recovered by units from dismantled terrorist bases.

Under another aspect the state daily Sidwaya headlines: “Cycling: Paul Daumont conquers the Center-North region”.

He informs that the AS BESSEL sprinter, Paul Daumont won, on September 2, 2023, in the Kaya circuit, the 2nd stage of the Tour for the reconquest of the territory.

Sidwaya specifies that the winner of the race was ahead of the Kadiogo Rail Club (RCK) runner Souleymane Koné in the sprint over the distance of 121 km.

In the same vein, the newspaper Privé Le Pays affirms that it is an unsurprising victory for the member of AS BESSEL which has domination over Burkinabè cycling.

He adds that Paul Daumont covered the closed circuit of 5,500 km to be covered 22 times in 3h 09mn 56 seconds, an average speed of 38.223 km/h.
