Headline: Gayéri Population Marches in Support of Defense Forces, Demands Restoration of Public Services

Gayéri, Burkina Faso – A peaceful march took place on Sunday in Gayéri, mobilizing local residents to express their support for the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP). The event followed an initiative by the Komondjari monitoring cell.

According to a new release by Burkina Information Agency, the population of Gayéri in the province of Komondjari penned an open letter to the governor of the Eastern region during the march. The letter voiced their appreciation for the FDS and the VDP, who are responsible for maintaining security in the area. However, it also expressed concerns about the absence of public administration, the closure and relocation of general education high schools and colleges to Fada N’Gourma, and the lack of health and teaching staff in the community.

The letter called for the immediate return of all state agents assigned to the province, the reopening of all educational and health establishments in central Gayéri, and a comprehensive operation aimed at the total liberation of the province.

The march concluded with a game of maracana to promote social cohesion among the participants.
