“If there are geniuses (at FESPACO headquarters), they must be very good geniuses…” (General Delegate)

Faced with the widespread idea of the presence of geniuses on the headquarters of FESPACO, the general delegate Moussa Alex Sawadogo estimated, in an interview published Friday in the state daily Sidwaya, that if they exist, “they must be very good geniuses” because they enable the organization of different editions of FESPACO every two years.

“If there are geniuses, they must be very good geniuses because, as FESPACO approaches, we work until late hours (3 a.m. to 4 a.m.) without problem,” said the delegate general on Friday. of FESPACO Moussa Alex Sawadogo in the public daily Sidwaya.

He continued in these terms: “they are very good geniuses, because we managed to build buildings which are finished in the courtyard of FESPACO. Once again, I thank our ancestors for giving us very good geniuses and the proof is that we manage to make the FESPACO which takes place in very good conditions”.

The General Delegate of the Pan-African Film and Television Festival of Ouagadougou (FESPACO) spoke during a report interview published this Friday in the public daily Sidwaya.

For him, the difficulties in completing the construction of the media library within the headquarters of FESPACO are due to “a question of commitment” and finance but not genius.

“It’s already enormous for us to organize FESPACO with the limited budget. (…) When things gradually normalize, there are investors who will come back and we will take the pilgrim’s staff to find partners (to finance the construction of the media library)”, he said. underline.

The construction of the media library, which for years has come up against obstacles, in particular fires of unknown origin, has developed the widespread idea of the presence of geniuses at the FESPACO headquarters.

Faced with the question of whether it is not time to think about relocating the headquarters of FESPACO, the general delegate Moussa Alex Sawadogo invited to “be realistic and objective” because in his opinion “there is no concern with the current location of FESPACO”.

“We are well located,” he affirmed and underlined that “a large part of the space leading to the National Assembly belongs to FESPACO”.

He claimed that “this infrastructure (at FESPACO headquarters) has cost taxpayers billions and leaving this space for another would be spending a lot of money while this building is functioning properly”.

“We just have to invest in this space (according to him), find strategies and means to be able to redevelop the premises, so that it is more convivial. There are festivals in the world that don’t have that space. And we are one of the only festivals that has such a big space and so beautiful. Just because it’s hard to invest in it doesn’t mean you have to run away! “, he said.

Instead, he recommended “investing in software rather than hardware, that is to say, in content more than in construction”.
