Bungoma County Students to Benefit from Sh7 Million NGAAF Bursary Fund


BUNGOMA, BUNGOMA COUNTY – Secondary school students across 45 wards in Bungoma County are poised to receive educational support through a Sh7 million bursary from the National Government Affirmative Action Fund (NGAAF). This initiative aims to assist students from needy families in their educational pursuits.



According to Kenya News Agency, Catherine Wambilianga, who spoke at the fund’s launch at St. Kizito Mayanja Secondary School in Bumula, each ward will select 15 deserving students to benefit from this bursary. Wambilianga emphasized the importance of supporting both boys and girls, acknowledging the challenges faced by children of both genders in accessing education.



The MP expressed her concern regarding the issue of early pregnancies in the county, highlighting its adverse impact on the education of the girl child. Wambilianga urged parents to provide proper guidance to their children about the consequences of premarital sex and the importance of education. She appealed to parents to ensure that girls who face such challenges are encouraged to return to school and continue their education.



The event was attended by various stakeholders in the education sector, signifying the community’s commitment to improving educational opportunities for underprivileged students in Bungoma County.
