Morocco, Finland Ink MOU To Boost Energy Cooperation

Morocco and Finland signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU), to promote cooperation in renewable energy, clean-tech and energy efficiency.

The document was signed by Morocco’s Minister of Energy Transition and Sustainable Development, Leila Benali and Finnish Minister of Economic Affairs, Mika Lintila via videoconferencing, the report said.

The MoU stresses the need for joint efforts in developing renewables, energy technology, the hydrogen economy, and research and development.

It aims to facilitate technical and economic cooperation in the energy sector and promote the access of Finnish companies to the Moroccan market, said the Finnish embassy in Morocco, in another statement.

The statement said, the country has shown an interest in information and communications technology, as well as, waste and water treatment plants, in which Finland has significant know-how.

The north African kingdom aims to produce 52 percent of its electricity from clean energy by 2030.
