Armed Forces Chief Visits Troops in Eastern Security Hotspot

OUAGADOUGOU — The Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces, Brigadier General Célestin Simporé, visited military personnel on March 30, 2024, in the eastern region of Burkina Faso, an area facing significant security challenges. The visit aimed to assess and support the troops engaged in critical operations to secure the region.

According to Burkina Information Agency, General Simporé, along with the Minister Delegate for Security, commended the forces for their recent successes in regaining control of territories. During his visit, General Simporé also participated in a humanitarian initiative, delivering supplies to the widows of the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland (VDP) who have sacrificed their lives. The gesture underscores the national leadership’s commitment to addressing the welfare of those affected by the ongoing conflict and demonstrates the government’s comprehensive approach to supporting its armed forces and their families.
