Addis Ababa: Ethiopia and China Reaffirm Commitment to Bolster Cooperation in Agriculture and Mining

ADDIS ABABA: Ethiopia and China have reaffirmed their commitment to enhance cooperation in agriculture and mining. The Ethio-China Agriculture and Mining Industry Cooperation Fair was held in Addis Ababa today. The event aimed to foster bilateral cooperation in these sectors and brought together major enterprises from Hunan, China, and the Ethiopian business community.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, the fair was organized in collaboration with the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia, the Changsha Municipal Bureau of Commerce, and the Ethiopian Youth Entrepreneurs Association. Thirty-six Chinese companies and their Ethiopian counterparts participated. Deputy Director General of the Middle East, Asia, and Pacific Countries Affairs at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ethiopia, Ambassador Negus Kebede, stated that the event provided networking opportunities and fostered tangible industry cooperation. Last year, Ethiopia and China elevated their relationship to a strategic partnership, signing over a dozen bilateral cooperation agreements.

Negus emphasized that the fair capitalizes on the strong friendship between the two countries and enhances business-to-business and government-to-business exchanges. Economic and Commercial Minister Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Ethiopia, Yang Yihang, expressed China's eagerness to share knowledge and experience in agriculture and mining with Ethiopia. He affirmed China's commitment to work closely with Ethiopia to promote the export of agricultural products to the Chinese market. The fair included a business-to-business session on investment, trade, and procurement projects in mining, agriculture, and other industries.
