Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias to meet with Secretary General of Central American Integration System “SICA”, Werner Vargas. Signing of the Agreement on Greece’s participation in SICA as observer (Athens 24.02.2023)

Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias will hold a meeting in Athens tomorrow, Friday, February 24, 2023, with the Secretary General of the Central American Integration System (SICA), in the context of the latter’s visit to Greece.

Expanded talks will start at approximately 12:00 and following their conclusion the signing ceremony of the Agreement on Greece’s participation in SICA with an observer status will take place at approximately 12:45.

Afterwards, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and the Secretary General of SICA will make joint statements to the press at approximately 13:00.

The above mentioned Central American regional organisation was established in 1991 and its member states are Guatemala, the Dominican Republic, El Salvador, Costa Rica, Belize, Nicaragua, Honduras, and Panama.

It is noted that Greece was unanimously granted observer status to SICA, on December 9, 2022, during the Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Organization’s Member States, in Santiago De Los Caballeros, the Dominican Republic.

It is worth recalling that Minister of Foreign Affairs Nikos Dendias carried out a tour of South and Central America at the beginning of the current month (06 – 10.02.2023).
