Namibia and Ghana Strengthen Tourism Ties with B2B Networking Session

Windhoek – The Namibian Tourism Board (NTB) hosted a business-to-business (B2B) networking session with over 21 tourism industry partners from Ghana. The event, held in Windhoek, aimed to position Namibia as a tourism destination and investment opportunity.

According to Namibian Press Agency (NAMPA), Charmaine Matheus, Head of Marketing at NTB, explained that the B2B engagement was designed to promote Namibia amongst Ghanaians across various economic sectors, including tourism. She emphasized the potential of linking the tourism sectors of both countries to improve their respective industries.

Margareth Gustavo, Executive Director for Strategy and Branding at the Namibia Investment Promotion Development Board (NIPDB), highlighted the Africa Continental Free Trade Area (ACFTA) as an opportunity for Namibia to conduct business with other African nations, including in the tourism sector. Gustavo noted that tourism is the third-largest contributor to Namibia’s GDP and stressed the importance of promoting the industry for both tourism and investment opportunities.

Alhaji Abdul-Rahman Harruna, former Ghana Ambassador to Namibia, emphasized the need to utilize ACFTA to enhance trade among African countries. He stated that the visit aimed to explore what Ghana could learn from and potentially trade with Namibia.
