Deputy President David Mabuza to officially open the ICASA 2021 conference in Durban Kwazulu-Natal Province

Deputy President David Mabuza, in his capacity as the Chairperson of the South African National AIDS Council (SANAC), will deliver the official opening address at the 21st International Conference on AIDS and Sexually Transmitted Infections in Africa (ICASA).

ICASA is Africa’s biggest bilingual AIDS Conference that brings together scientists, government leaders, policy-makers, activists, and people living with HIV from the African continent. The conference is aimed at strengthening health systems in order to integrate high impact interventions on comorbidities emerging infections and non-communicable diseases, among others.

The 21st ICASA conference will be hosted at Inkosi Albert Luthuli International Convention Centre from 6 December to 11 December 2021 under the theme, Africa’s AIDS Response: The Race to 2030 – Evidence. Scale Up. Accelerate.

In his address, Deputy President David Mabuza is expected to reaffirm South Africa’s commitment to greater unity of the African continent and further support the Common African Position developed under the African Union.

In line with COVID-19 safety protocols, the conference will be held in a hybrid format.
