Commission for Gender Equality hosts webinar on LGBTI+ equality, 11 Nov

On Thursday 11 November 2021, the Commission for Gender Equality (CGE) will host a webinar under the theme “What it took for us to get here and what it will take to move forward!”, which will be facilitated and led by Commissioner Busisiwe Deyi. The webinar will be held from 10:00 – 12:00 and discussions will reflect on the rights of LGBTI+ equality 27 years into democracy, and also provide solutions to ensure equality for the LGBTI+ community.
The speakers will be as follows:
1. Wendy Isaack – a researcher in the LGBTI rights program at Human Rights Watch, who has also worked as an Adjunct Professor at the Human Rights and Gender Justice Clinic, City University of New York (CUNY) and as an international consultant for UN Women and the Palestine Office.
2. Zethu Matebeni – a sociologist, activist, writer, documentary film maker, Professor and South Africa Research Chairperson in Sexualities, Gender and Queer Studies at the University of Fort Hare.
