Announcement by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the evacuation of thirteen more people, Greeks, and their family members, including His Eminence Metropolitan of Nubia, Savvas, from Sudan (26.04.2023)

Thirteen more people, Greeks, and their family members were evacuated from Sudan and arrived in Amman, Jordan late last night (25.04.2023) on German aircraft.

Among those who have been evacuated is His Eminence Metropolitan of Nubia, Savvas.

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Nikos Dendias, has extended his warm thanks to his German counterpart, Annalena Baerbock, for the assistance provided by her country in the efforts to evacuate Greeks and their family members from Sudan.

The process and actions to evacuate our compatriots and their family members from Sudan continue in close coordination with our partners in the EU and our allies.
