Peace and living together celebrated in Pouytenga

The Association act for our villages (AGV) with the support of AISA International NGO commemorated the 6th edition of the International Day of Living Together in Peace (JIVEP) on June 21 and 22, 2023 at Pouytenga, province of Kouritenga. Several activities marked the commemoration in which schoolchildren from the commune of Zoungou, province of neighboring Ganzourgou took part.

“To life, to peace”, it is under this theme that AGV and AISA International NGO celebrated the International Day of Living Together in Peace (JIVEP) 2023 edition.

Making the culture of peace and living together their credo, the Association act for our villages and its partner AISA International NGO have decided to commemorate this day in the commune of Pouytenga on June 21 and 22, 2023.

Several activities filled these days. Mainly, the evening of Wednesday June 21 was marked by a school poetry competition on peace, a radio program on peace, a first aid workshop for the benefit of the pupils of the school of Zooré animated by the national brigade of sapeurs -firefighters and a handing over of latrines carried out by AISA International NGO at this same school.

The evening of June 22 mobilized several hundred students, teachers, parents of students and municipal authorities on the premises of the Pissy “A” school in Pouytenga. It was marked by a painting workshop on the rocks adjoining this school.

Doves of peace, “Love”, “Here we are united”, “We like to live it together” are among other images and expressions that the children painted on the rocks.

African stories on peace, dances performed by the students and the planting of the tree of peace closed the evening.

The musician artist Sana Bob brought his touch to this evening with sounds drawn from his repertoire, magnifying peace and living together.

For the Executive Director of AGV, Sadat BIKIENGA, this celebration of the JIVEP with the students and the populations, aims to instil in young children the culture of Peace but it also testifies to the commitment of all to go towards Peace in our actions. daily.

“This JIVEP day challenges all girls and sons around the world and particularly our Burkinabé brothers for a peaceful attitude to cultivate peace, the foundation of all community life in harmony,” he said.

He thanked the partner AISA International NGO which, through its humanitarian component, kindly supported technically and financially the celebration of peace in a country plagued by insecurity.

Sadat Bikienga also expressed his gratitude to the Burkinabè authorities, in particular the Ministry in charge of Humanitarian Action, for his declaration in favor of peace made on May 16, 2023. In view of the enthusiasm generated by this activity, Mr. Bikienga said he was satisfied and gave an appointment in 2024 for another edition of the JIVEP.

As a reminder, the International Day of Living Together in Peace is celebrated every May 16 around the world. It is a United Nations resolution adopted on December 17, 2017 in the General Assembly by all 193 UN Member States.
