Western Cape Police Confiscate Heroin and Firearms in High-Density Operations

CAPE TOWN – Local police efforts to curb crime in Western Cape yielded tangible results over the weekend with the confiscation of drugs and firearms.

According to South Africa Police Service, members of Operation Restore, operating in the Mitchell’s Plain policing precinct, arrested a 40-year-old male on the evening of Sunday, October 29, 2023. During a search of a premises in Rowenzori Street, Tafelsig, Mitchell’s Plain, 122 units of heroin were confiscated. The suspect is expected to appear in the Mitchell’s Plain Magistrates’ court once charged.

In a separate operation in Marcus Gavi area, also led by members of Operation Restore, a large quantity of dagga and four firearms with ammunition were found. The suspect evaded arrest and fled the scene as police approached the residence. Investigations into the circumstances are ongoing, and authorities are actively seeking the suspect.
