MEC Mbali Hlophe on resignation of Office Manager, Lwando Majiza

The MEC for the Gauteng Department of Sports, Arts, Culture and Recreation has noted the voluntary resignation of Mr. Lwando Majiza, Office Manager in the Office of the MEC following serious allegations levelled against him of rape.

The MEC has accepted the resignation. And remains committed to the fight against all forms of violence especially against women and children. And therefore welcomes Mr. Majiza’s commitment to subject himself to law enforcement agencies and the rule of law.

In line with government’s mandate, to build a socially cohesive and prosperous society, GBV has been characterised as a national crisis and pandemic by the President, who has further called upon society to hold hands in fighting this scourge.

In this regard we call upon our law enforcement agencies to act against perpetrators of these heinous acts of violence, and wish strength and justice to the victims.
