Balavé Residents Rally Support in Anti-Terrorism Effort with Motorcycle Donation

BALAVÉ – In a show of solidarity against terrorism, the residents and nationals of Balavé have contributed three motorcycles to the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP). According to reports, these vehicles are intended to bolster the local fight against terrorist activities in the region. The motorcycles, identified as Sanili models valued at 1.6 million FCFA, were officially presented to Oumarou Sandwidi, the High Commissioner of Banwa province. This event was witnessed by Jules Kaboré, the president of the special Balavé delegation.

According to Burkina Information Agency, During the handover, a local notable who chose to remain anonymous expressed the community’s determination: “We were able to have these 3 motorcycles to help our children so that the whole town is secure.” High Commissioner Oumarou Sandwidi acknowledged the importance and timeliness of this contribution. He commended the donors for their sense of responsibility and their efforts in supporting the local defense initiative.

Balavé, a commune that experienced a terrorist attack on the night of December 14 to 15, 2023, has since restored its peace, largely thanks to the intervention of defense and security forces, assisted by the VDP. Despite regaining calm, the threat of banditry in surrounding villages remains a concern. The addition of these motorcycles is expected to enhance the VDP’s capabilities in conducting surveillance and preventative operations against any further terrorist activities.
