Burkina/Kossi: “Athlético de Madrid” wins the 1st edition of the Kossi resilience tournament

Athlético de Madrid” won the first edition of the football tournament called Maracana of Resilience on Sunday evening in Nouna, beating Duel FC in the final by the narrowest of margins (1- 0), noted an AIB journalist.

The resilience tournament started on July 20, 2023 with the participation of 24 teams. The competition took place back and forth. According to the promoter Issa Dama, president of the provincial youth council, the objective of this cup is to promote social cohesion and living together in this period of double security and humanitarian crisis which mainly affects young people in need of jobs. .

“Beyond the security and humanitarian crisis, the tournament challenges the population of the Sacred Union around the Kossi which remains a common good for all”, underlined the promoter.

As a prelude to the long-awaited final, a gala match pitted the host population (civilians) against the defense and security forces and the volunteers for the defense of the homeland. The civilian team won by 2 goals to 1.

After the congratulations of the teams by the provincial authorities, the final between Atlético (in yellow) and Duel fc (in white) started on a high note, with a sterile domination of Atlético Madrid in the first period. .

At the resumption the whites of Duel fc are more conquering but without goal. At the end of regulation time the score remained nil and blank. It was necessary to resort to a penalty shootout. On the two shots for each team, Athletico managed to score a goal while their opponent could not score.

Athletico wins the trophy, a set of shirts, two balls and the sum of 61,000 FCFA, leaving a set of shirts, a ball, a trophy and the sum of 33,000 FCFA to its challenger Duel FC. Special prizes were also distributed to the best actors.
