Limpopo Residents Back National Small Enterprise Amendment Bill for Proposed Small Enterprise Ombud Service and Finance Agency

Limpopo — Public hearings in Vhembe and Capricorn districts reveal that local residents are in favor of the National Small Enterprise Amendment (NSEA) Bill, primarily because it proposes the establishment of the Small Enterprise Development Finance Agency (SEDFA) and the Office of the Small Enterprise Ombud Service.

According to a new release by Parliament of South Africa, oral inputs were provided by the residents during public hearings at the Thohoyandou Town Hall and the Westenburg Community Hall. The Portfolio Committee, consisting of 11 members, has divided into two groups to accelerate the public hearings on the Bill. Group One is focused on Limpopo’s Vhembe, Capricorn, and Waterberg districts, while Group Two is conducting hearings in the Northern Cape.

The hearings align with section 59(1)(a) of the Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, which mandates the National Assembly to facilitate public involvement in legislative processes. The NSEA Bill aims to create both the Small Enterprise Development Finance Agency and the Office of the Small Enterprise Ombud Service.

Public hearings by Group One will continue tomorrow from 10 am to 2 pm at the OR Tambo Community Hall in Modimolle.
