Kisii Governor Arati Emphasizes Service Delivery in Public Sector

Kisii: Governor Simba Arati has called on the newly appointed members of the Kisii County Public Service Board to prioritize enhancing public service delivery. This directive was given during the swearing-in ceremony of the board’s chairperson and five members at Gusii Stadium in Kisii town.

According to Kenya News Agency, the new team has several critical tasks ahead, including the confirmation of 904 Early Childhood and Development Education (ECDE) teachers, addressing staff indiscipline, dealing with employees holding fake academic qualifications, and managing promotions. He emphasized the importance of fairness and equity in the promotion process, highlighting past issues where deserving staff members were overlooked.

The board’s appointees are Elijah Obebo as chairperson, with Jared Omwoyo, Kefah Mose, Dr. Silas Ayunga, Jane Nyabuto, and Victoria Masese as members. Governor Arati added that a biometric attendance system has been procured for all wards to ensure accurate and automated tracking of employee attendance, aiming to boost efficiency.

Kisii Deputy Governor, Dr. Robert Monda, also addressed the board, urging them to uphold ethical standards and effectively manage public service operations to facilitate necessary staff relocations. He acknowledged the challenges of operating in a political office, encouraging the board to remain steadfast in the face of criticism, particularly regarding human resource issues in the county.

Kisii County Assembly Speaker, Dr. Phillip Nyanumba, spoke about the transparency of the vetting process for the new board members. He expressed confidence in their capability to fulfill their duties effectively. Dr. Nyanumba also called for ongoing cooperation between the board and the County Assembly to ensure the successful implementation of the governor’s agenda for the residents of Kisii.
