Cases Clearance At 71 Percent One Year On

As the Kenol law courts celebrate one year of existence, the caseload clearance stands at 71 percent and ranks as one of the best performing courts. The court which was operationalised on September 12, 2022, has had a case workload of 3522 as the total filed cases. Speaking during the colorful anniversary celebrations in Kenol, the Senior Resident Magistrate and head of station Sheila Nyaga observed that as at August 31, the total filed cases stood at 3522 cases and that the court was committed to excellence in the delivery of justice. “Of the 3522 cases, 771 cases are civil in nature while criminal caseload stands at 2751 cases,” she said “Further, the Kenol law courts had managed to resolve 2485 cases from the case workload while the pending cases stood at 582 for the civil cases and 455 for the criminal cases. Kenol town being a highly expanding business hub, the court looks forward to having a small claims court and a court annexed mediation which will enhance the speedy resolution of disputes in the fut
ure. Previously, the residents were forced to travel to the neighbouring Kigumo sub-county to access justice which was both time consuming and expensive but with the Kenol law courts, they are now able to access justice efficiently as the court is committed to enhancing public trust and confidence in the judicial system. Having a court in Kenol was also necessitated by the rapid increase of population in the fast-growing town due to dual carriage that links Kenol and Marua in Nyeri amongst other developmental factors.
