Marseille to Host First International Cross The Ages E-Sport Tournament

Marseille is gearing up to host its first international e-sport tournament, Heroes’ Legacy, for the mobile game Cross The Ages. Sami Chlagou, the Franco-Tunisian director of Cross the Ages, expressed pride in organizing this significant event in their hometown. The tournament is set to take place on December 9 and 10 at La Belle de Mai, Marseille.

According to the Africa News Agency, Cross The Ages has gained popularity beyond France, especially in Japan, South Korea, and the United States. Its success in North Africa is noteworthy, with over 15,000 downloads. Although African players were not selected for this edition, plans are in place for a targeted advertising campaign and game optimization for the African market in 2024.

The pre-selection process whittled down 300 players to the final sixty-four from around the world. The tournament winner will receive a prize of 100,000 euros. Cross The Ages, a mix of chess, go, and board games, appeals to collectors of playing cards and NFTs, requiring players to purchase unique digital cards.

The game’s universe, blending fantasy and science fiction, has led to the development of a literary saga, with several volumes published by Hachette. The saga has involved creators from major franchises like Game of Thrones, Star Wars, The Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter.

The Heroes’ Legacy tournament also serves to showcase Marseille and provide a unique gaming experience, with influential personalities from the city expected to attend.
