Namibian Educators Urged to Utilize Online Platform NotesMaster

Windhoek – Wilhelmina Louw, the Head of e-learning at the Namibia College of Open Learning (Namcol), called on teachers, learners, and parents to make full use of the online learning resource, NotesMaster. The platform has recently been spotlighted by Education, Arts and Culture Minister Ester Anna Nghipondoka and is backed by N.dollars 17 million in government funding for developing and distributing digital lessons aligned with official Ministry of Education syllabuses.

According to Namibian Press Agency (NAMPA), a speech given by Nghipondoka at the Government Communication Centre on November 15, NotesMaster is an e-learning network designed to support teachers and students in and out of the classroom. The platform serves as a digital repository of learning materials, featuring content authored by local teachers and incorporating various multimedia elements.

Louw emphasized the platform’s relevance to Namibia, stating, “This is a platform with Namibian content, created by Namibian teachers for Namibian students.” NotesMaster covers online learning content from Grade 8 up to AS level for all exam subjects, in line with Namibian curriculums.

From January to April, Namcol’s active training program led to the registration of 11,000 new learners on the platform, which now boasts over 40,000 users. This year alone, 329 teachers and 3,837 learners at formal schools have been trained. Louw’s goal is to double the number of new learners quarterly to tackle issues like limited textbook access and teacher deployment.
