Software exams: Minister of Education apologizes for shortcomings

The Minister in charge of Education, Joseph André Ouédraogo, on Tuesday apologized to the social partners for the shortcomings related to the new exam software, promising an improvement in the sessions to come.

“Before our advent, the exams were managed by several software, which in reality, were the property of private persons and individuals. By becoming head of this department, I made it a point of honor to provide the ministry with its own software,” said the Minister in charge of National Education, Joseph André Ouédraogo.

He was speaking on Tuesday in Saaba, a town on the northeast outskirts of Ouagadougou, on the occasion of the official launch of the baccalaureate written exams.

According to him, this new tool “has been put in place and we owe this performance to a dynamic team of IT services management who worked nights and days against zero francs”.

An act described as “high patriotism” by the first official in charge of education by “those times when resources are scarce”.

However, there are difficulties associated with the new software.

The minister in charge of national education apologized to the social partners for the shortcomings. He pledged to do better in subsequent editions.

This year, there are 132,980 candidates (to take part in the baccalaureate exam), unlike last year when they were at 142,728, a drop in enrollment of around 06.84%, indicated Joseph André Ouedraogo.

According to Mr. Ouédraogo, this drop may be due to the security situation in Burkina

The 2023 baccalaureate exam mobilizes around 9,180 correctors to mark the copies of the various candidates within 510 juries.

The deliberations of the results of the first round will take place on Thursday, June 29, while the results of the second round will be announced on July 6 at the latest for a closing of the examination on July 7, 2023.
