Allegations of mood swings in military garrisons in Burkina: the government denounces totally unfounded and malicious information from the newspaper Jeune Afrique

“The Burkinabè Government is outraged by a tendentious article published this Thursday, September 21, 2023 on the website of the newspaper Jeune Afrique in which the said newspaper tries to make people believe that “In Burkina Faso, discontent is rising in the barracks”.

With this fabulous title germinated from the pen of a journalist from Jeune Afrique and endorsed by its editorial staff, the newspaper loses itself in conjectures on a supposed “swing of mood” which would have “won military garrisons on September 20”.

He even attempts to lend credibility to this web of lies by referring to so-called “military and security sources”, but clearly, absolutely nothing that is put forward by Jeune Afrique corresponds either to the truth or to established facts.

The Government regrets this completely unfounded and malicious information.

He reassures the public that no discontent has been observed in any barracks of the Burkinabè Armed Forces for whatever reasons.

On the contrary, the Defense and Security Forces, supported by the Volunteers for the Defense of the Fatherland and by the entire Burkinabè people, remain resolutely committed to the fulfillment of their duty and are carrying out their missions with determination. reconquest of national territory and protection of populations and their property.

The Burkinabè Government invites Jeune Afrique to be more serious and responsible in the processing of information. As much as he remains committed to respecting press freedom, he will rebel every time media covering current events in Burkina Faso take liberties with ethics and professional conduct. »

Rimtalba Jean Emmanuel Ouédraogo, government spokesperson.
