AHEPA Brussels honours FM Kasoulides for his contribution to European path and foreign policy of Cyprus

Expatriate association AHEPA Brussels honoured Foreign Affairs Minister Ioannis Kasoulides for his years of service in an event held on Monday evening at the Permanent Representation of Cyprus to the European Union in Brussels.

In a post on its official Twitter account, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs referred to a “modest and highly moving ceremony” during which AHEPA Brussels “honoured the ‘master of diplomacy’ Ioannis Kasoulides @IKasoulides for his long and selfless contribution to Cyprus, Hellenism and Europe”.

Kasoulides thanked AHEPA Brussels, noting that the award comes as a great honour. In his speech, Kasoulides noted that throughout his career he has been transparent and acted for the good of Cyprus and Europe.

The event was also attended by Cypriot Permanent Representative Christina Rafti, as well as the Greek Permanent Representative Ioannis Vrailas, and other diplomats, including the managing director of the European External Action Service, Angelina Eichhorst.

“Grateful for the excellent cooperation w/Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides @IKasoulides during his term representing #Cyprus globally and @ #EU Foreign Affairs + General Affairs Council,” Eichhorst said in a post.

Speaking during the event, AHEPA’s regional head for Brussels, Demosthenes Mammonas, said that the organisation honours “an excellent diplomat for his multifaceted contribution to Hellenism during his long term of office, culminating in the integration of Cyprus into the great European family.”

The organisers of the event described Kasoulides as a “master of diplomacy” and highlighted his contribution not only to the accession of Cyprus in the EU but also to the building of a credible and outward-looking foreign policy for the Republic of Cyprus.
