Burkina/Boucle du Mouhoun: Civil society organizations concerned about the security situation

Dédougou, The collective of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) from the Boucle du Mouhoun region made a statement on Monday in Dédougou to decry the security situation in the locality.

In its declaration, of which AIB has received a copy, the collective of regional CSOs calls on non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and associations to provide humanitarian assistance to populations who lack practically everything.

It also invites nationals of the Boucle du Mouhoun region in Dédougou (regional capital) or in other localities of the country to organize a chain of solidarity in order to welcome and support these Internally Displaced Populations (IDPs) .

In the same document, the collective sent its congratulations and encouragement to the Defense and Security Forces (FDS) and the Volunteers for the Defense of the Homeland (VDP).

According to the CSO group, the fighting forces “are fighting against winds and tides with on-board means to protect populations and to contain or repel the almost daily attacks” of armed terrorist groups.

The Boucle du Mouhoun region is experiencing a lackluster security situation that has led the governor to recently take a number of measures, including the closure of around forty gold panning sites.

Thanks to the efforts made by the army and the VDP, the administration as well as the populations were able to return to certain localities such as Solenzo.
