Suspected Serial Rapist Apprehended in Oshakati, Faces Multiple Charges

OSHAKATI: A man suspected of being a serial rapist has been arrested in Oshakati after evading law enforcement for nearly a week.

According to a new release by Namibia Press Agency, the Community Affairs Officer of the Namibian Police Force (NamPol) in the Oshana Region, the suspect was arrested last Friday. Shikole stated that four victims positively identified the suspect during an identification parade held at Oshakati.

Shikole added that the suspect faces rape charges in all the cases and confirmed that all victims are minors. The suspect, already on probation for two separate rape cases involving minors, is also subject to a warrant of arrest for two cases of housebreaking and possession of stolen property. These additional charges emerged after he was granted bail for the rape cases currently under review in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court.

The suspect is scheduled to be formally charged in all four cases and will appear in the Oshakati Magistrate’s Court in due course.
