Ethiopian Immigration Service Announces Significant Reforms and Improvements

Addis Ababa – The Ethiopian Immigration and Citizenship Service (EICS) has reported notable improvements and reforms within a brief period, as announced by Selamawit Dawit, the Director-General of EICS. The enhancements follow a comprehensive reform process undertaken in the last six months, focusing on legal frameworks, procedural adjustments, and organizational restructuring.

According to Ethiopian News Agency, these reforms have led to a fivefold increase in the daily passport printing capacity, from 2,000 to 10,000. With over 1.1 million booklets imported, more than 640,000 passports have been issued during this period. Selamawit Dawit assured that there is currently no backlog, and passports will be issued as per the schedule starting from March 25, 2024, marking a significant step forward in the efficiency and effectiveness of the immigration service.
