Ethiopia Launches Second Phase of Refugee Support Program


Addis Ababa: The second phase of the PROSPECTS partnership program has been launched in Ethiopia, aiming to enhance the resilience, self-reliance, and integration of forcibly displaced persons and host communities.



According to Ethiopian News Agency, Announced by the Netherlands Ambassador to Ethiopia, Henk Jan Bakker, in collaboration with Ethiopia’s Refugees and Returnees Service (RRS), this phase builds on the successes of the initial program, which provided educational opportunities to over 20,000 children and youths and created 20,000 jobs. With a substantial investment of 800 million Euro from the Dutch government, the program seeks to further economic opportunities, strengthen child protection systems, and improve access to services.



Ethiopia, recognized for its progressive refugee policies, continues to be a leading example of refugee integration into national systems, aiming to transform refugee camps into sustainable urban settlements. The RRS Director-General, Teyiba Hassen, reaffirmed Ethiopia’s commitment to the Global Compact on Refugees, highlighting the importance of collaboration and communication to address challenges and support the expanded partnership’s goals.
