Evening Accident in Oyugis Results in Four Fatalities

Oyugis — A tragic accident occurred Thursday evening in Rachuonyo South Sub-County, claiming the lives of four individuals. The incident involved a collision between a lorry and a motorcycle, more commonly known as a boda boda, at Kasimba Junction on the Oyugis-Kisii highway near Oyugis town.

According to a new release by Kenya News Agency, the motorcycle entered the Oyugis-Kisii road at a high speed from the Kodera area along the Rangwe-Oyugis Road. As the rider was turning towards Oyugis town, a lorry coming from Kisii caught up with the boda boda, knocking it down and causing fatal injuries to all on board. The lorry, carrying building stones, also lost control and overturned. Lilies Wachira, Rachuonyo South Sub-County police commander, confirmed that the bodies were taken to Rachuonyo South Sub-County Hospital. Both the lorry and the motorcycle have been towed to Oyugis police station as investigations commence. Wachira urged drivers and riders to strictly observe traffic rules to mitigate such incidents.
