Salah, Hakimi, and Osimhen Shortlisted for CAF African Player of the Year Award

Ouahigouya – The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has announced the shortlist for its prestigious African Player of the Year award, with Mohamed Salah (Egypt), Achraf Hakimi (Morocco), and Victor Osimhen (Nigeria) as the finalists. The winner will be revealed during the CAF Awards ceremony scheduled for December 11 in Marrakech, Morocco.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the three players, Salah, Hakimi, and Osimhen, have been selected as the top contenders for the 2023 Player of the Year trophy. The final decision will be based on the votes of a panel comprising the CAF Technical Commission, media professionals from member associations, as well as head coaches and captains of member associations and clubs that participated in the group stages of interclub competitions.

The awards ceremony is set to take place at the Movenpick Palais des Congrès in Marrakech, Morocco, starting at 7:00 p.m. local time (6:00 p.m. GMT). The event will not only recognize the best male player but will also feature awards in several other categories.

In the women’s category, Oshoala, Banda, and Kgatlana are nominated for the prestigious trophy. Meanwhile, the Interclub Player of the Year award has contenders including Tau, Shalulile, and Mayele. The ceremony promises to be a significant occasion, celebrating the achievements of African footballers across various categories.
