Boulsa Hosts Provincial Day to Celebrate Sport and Leisure


BOULSA — On Saturday, February 17, 2024, Boulsa witnessed the vibrant board game competitions and the official commencement of activities by the School and University Sports Union of Burkina Faso (USSUBF). The event, aimed at promoting sports and leisure activities within the province, was chaired by the Secretary General, Bassouleymane Ouattara, and saw significant participation from enthusiasts of games such as scrabble, belote, pétanque, table football, and checkers.



According to Burkina Information Agency, the day was not only about competing for titles but also demonstrating a collective commitment to sports and leisure as integral components of community life. The competitions, which took place in the Center-North region’s town of Boulsa, featured players exhibiting their skills with enthusiasm, talent, and a commendable spirit of fair play. Additionally, a notable football match between teams from private and public establishments was held at the Boulsa provincial high school field, concluding with a goalless draw.



The Secretary General, Ouattara, lauded the participants for their sportsmanship and encouraged educational establishments to continue engaging in these activities with a fair play spirit. He also acknowledged Moussa Ilboudo, the provincial director of sports and leisure, for his contributions to the event’s success.



At the competition’s conclusion, winners in each category were awarded prizes ranging from ten thousand to twenty thousand FCFA. Notable among the victors were Henri Sawadogo and Zakaria Kafando in pétanque, Jean Bosco Koudougou, Yacouba Nikièma, and Jean-Baptiste Damiba in queen, Bindaogo Ima in scrabble, and Yacouba Nako and Paténéma Ima in table football. These champions received their awards from the event’s authorities, highlighting the community’s support for its athletes. The ceremony’s sponsor, Ibrahim Kaboré, director of the Boulsa credit union, further celebrated the champions by offering six gadgets to the reigning winners.
