Literature: Ag Ibrahim Mohamed pays tribute to the workers of Essakane SA

The former employee of the Essakane SA mine, Ag Ibrahim Mohamed signed Thursday, at the Mercury publishing house, his first work entitled “Les pépites d’Essakane”, in which it traces the rich and brilliant career of women whose journey is admirable.

“As you can imagine, this book is the culmination of a long process which began with my entry into the world of mining in 2009. It traces the rich and brilliant careers of capable women whose journey is admirable,” said the author of the book , Ag Ibrahim Mohamed.

In this book, the author draws portraits of 40 women who worked and who had an impact on the life of the Essakane SA mining company, reconciling family life and profession.

Mr. Ag Mohamed spoke on Thursday, during the dedication of his first 173-page work entitled “The nuggets of Essakane”, published in June 2023 and available at the price of 5,000 CFA francs from the Mercury publishing house.

The author Ag Mohamed Ibrahim, also Director General of the Private Press Support Fund (FAPP), specified that he chose to make portraits of these women to exalt female leadership in a fairly specific sector that is the mining sector.

According to him, the ladies who represent 10% of the Essakane workforce bring added value to this sector.

“I started writing portraits of women for the mine magazine and when I left in 2021 I made a commitment to write a book on these thrilling life stories,” he added. .

He also stressed that the Essakane SA mine is a reflection of cultural diversity and that he was far from imagining that Burkinabè women would compete in ardor with men.

“Throughout the book, the author describes the journey of the atypical professional professions of these women, the difficulties they encounter, and above all the challenges to overcome to better ensure and assume their roles and responsibilities,” declared the preface of the work, Dr Aicha Tamboura/Diawara.

She concluded by recalling that the author mentioned the role played by Essakane in the promotion of women in management positions or mining operators.
