25 Elite Coaches Embark on CAF ‘A’ Coaching Course in Kenya

Nairobi – A total of 25 elite coaches have initiated their Confederation of African Football (CAF) ‘A’ coaching course. According to the Kenya News Agency, this course stands as the second-highest level of certification offered by the CAF. The highest level is the CAF Pro Licence.

Among the attendees are Harambee Starlets’ coach Beldine Odemba, Ulinzi Star’s coach Anthony Kimani, assistant Posta Ranger’s coach Bernad Kawinzi, and CAF instructor Jackline Juma. The course is a part of the Football Kenya Federation’s (FKF) agenda to increase the number of qualified coaches from grassroots to professional levels.

FKF Vice President Doris Petra stated that this is the first CAF licencing course offered since the current administration took office. Anthony Kimani, one of the course participants, reflected on his journey through the CAF certification levels, stating that he is among the few coaches to follow the pathway set by CAF.

The FKF has partnered with the Kenya Footballers Welfare Association (KEFWA) to uplift football in the country. KEFWA President James Situma voiced support for the initiative, believing it is a step in the right direction. The course, led by Coaches Salim Ali and Francis Kimanzi, will last for six months.
