ESEF 2023 will bring together a wide range of stakeholders for a greener West Africa

The ECOWAS Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (ECREEE) is organizing the 8th edition of the ECOWAS Sustainable Energy Forum (ESEF) 2023, scheduled in the city of Praia – Cape Verde, October 12 and 13 , under the auspices of the office of the Prime Minister of Cape Verde.

Each edition, ESEF attracts a wide range of stakeholders, including heads of state, ministers, heads of financial institutions and development organizations, as well as the private sector, to discuss and collaborate on sustainable energy solutions for the region.

The Forum provides an essential platform for government representatives, international organizations, private sector leaders, academia, civil society and innovators to engage in fruitful discussions and share expertise on the pressing energy challenges facing the region is facing. With a focus on innovation, collaboration and knowledge exchange, the event is expected to shape West Africa’s energy landscape for years to come.

According to ECREEE Executive Director
, Mr. Francis Semporé, ESEF ‘underlines our commitment to promoting sustainable energy solutions that respond to West Africa’s unique challenges and opportunities. By bringing together diverse stakeholders, we aim to encourage collaboration and innovation, ultimately leading the region towards a more sustainable and resilient energy future.’

One of the key elements of the Forum is to encourage investment. ECREEE is aware that sustainable energy projects require substantial investments. This is why the Center is organizing the Forum in a way to connect stakeholders and potential investors, promoting financing opportunities for green infrastructure projects that align with the region’s energy goals.

Another essential pillar of the forum is linked to the promotion of policies and the regulatory framework. Effective policy and regulatory frameworks are essential to guide the transition to sustainable energy. The Forum will serve as a platform to discuss policy recommendations that support an enabling environmen
t for energy innovation, market competition and private sector involvement.

The Forum is part of West Africa Energy Transition Week, which is organized in partnership with the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Energy (MICE), and also includes the 4th edition of the Cabo Verde International Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Fair (FIEREE), which will be held from October 12 to 14, 2023 at FIC in Praia.
