31 Adult Learners in Kiambu Sit for Final Kenya Certificate of Primary Education Exams

KIAMBU: A total of 31 adult learners in Kiambu County are currently taking the final exams for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE).

According to Kenya News Agency, the Kiambu County adult education officer who spoke to KNA on Tuesday, the group includes 16 females and 15 males, all present and accounted for as they undertake the exams.

Itonde reported that, as of the second day of the national exams, no incidents had occurred. Examinees were taking science, Kiswahili, and insha papers. She highlighted the role of education in achieving social development goals and encouraged residents to overcome social stigmatization that often acts as a barrier to educational pursuits. “Residents willing to pursue education, no matter at what level, should dissociate themselves from social stigmatization. There is a need for knowledge acquisition which can help social development goals be attained,” she said.

The active participation of these adults in the KCPE exams, Itonde added, is a testament to their dedication and the necessity of providing equal educational opportunities to all, regardless of age or gender. A survey conducted at adult education literacy centers in Kiambu indicated a higher female participation rate compared to males, which was ascribed to men being more engaged in various business activities within the county.

Kiambu County is committed to supporting adult education initiatives to ensure everyone has the opportunity to further their education, thus contributing to community development, according to the county’s adult education officer. Roselyn Litaba, the Kiambu sub-county director of education, confirmed that the ongoing exams have proceeded without issue since they began on Monday. The KCPE exams are set to conclude on Wednesday.
