Loroum/ Religion: The Christian faithful celebrate the feast of the Assumption in Titao

The Christian faithful of the city of Titao, in the province of Loroum (North) celebrated on Tuesday, August 15, 2023, the feast of the Assumption which reflects the ascent of the Virgin Mary to heaven, at the Church of Our Lady of All Joy in the said city.

“We fled the abuses of the armed groups to end up in Titao. It’s not easy but we were able to pray,” Odette Simporé, an internally displaced person (IDP) told Titao.

The PDI Simporé says to pray for the Blessed Virgin Mary and to intercede with the Almighty for a return of peace so that she can celebrate the next feast of the Assumption in her village in Hitté.

For the chief of Titao, Naaba Wadga, it is a pleasure for him, to see that the faithful Christians met in Titao to celebrate the ascent of the Virgin Mary to heaven.

“We hope that it will happen next year in restored peace,” he urged.

The feast of the Assumption was punctuated, among other things, by songs of praise and sermons.

To this end, the catechist Robert Sawadogo led the mass, in the presence of the customary, religious and military authorities of the city and many faithful.

“It’s a big day for us. I am very happy with the presence of other communities at our side to pray for peace. he confided.

The city of Titao is going through a difficult security and humanitarian situation which has worsened since December 2021. But in the face of the situation, the communities are organizing themselves and thus strengthening their resilience.
