Equity Bank Donates Sh.500,000 Worth of Furniture and Water Tanks to Schools in Changamwe Constituency

Mombasa—Equity Bank has provided St. Charles Lwanga, Chaani, and Kwa Hola Primary Schools in Changamwe Constituency with water tanks, lockers, and desks valued at Sh.500,000.

According to a new release by Kenya News Agency, Joseph Ndungu, the donation aims to support the educational experience for students and teachers alike. Ndungu assured class eight candidates preparing for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) exams that the Bank would grant full scholarships to the most deserving students from underprivileged backgrounds.

In addition to the furniture and water tanks, the Bank has planted 9,400 trees in schools across Changamwe Constituency. This initiative aligns with the Presidential directive on tree planting and aims to mitigate the adverse effects of climate change. Ndungu stated that the Bank has initiated tree-planting programs in schools nationwide as part of their commitment to environmental conservation.

Changamwe Member of Parliament (MP), Omar Mwinyi, took the opportunity to challenge local leaders in Mombasa to allocate funds for underprivileged families. “We must ensure that these families are able to meet the basic needs of their children,” said Mwinyi. As a teacher himself, the MP emphasized the critical role of educators in transforming the schools they serve.
