Tabaski in Solenzo: Muslim faithful pray for peace and good rainfall

Around 8 a.m. the town of Solenzo is lively and all the arteries of the four sectors are crowded with people.

Some with their families, others with friends or alone go to the great mosque of Solenzo for prayer.

At 8:30 a.m. the grand imam arrived in the square and it was his child, also an imam, who led the prayer.

After the 2 rakats, the sheep was immolated, thus giving the way to everyone to do the same once back home.

Joy on their faces, smiles on their lips, the faithful Muslims make blessings and implore Allah for peace in Burkina Faso and good rainfall for the peasants.

Note that the internally displaced Muslims were also at prayer.

An old man who requested anonymity spoke after the prayer: “I left a village for here. I’m happy but I want to ask God for three things. Peace for the whole country, tranquility in all the villages and a good winter season because without peace and tranquility, there is no rainy season”.
