Upington City, Orbit College promoted to Motsepe Foundation Championship

Upington City from the Northern Cape and Orbit College from the North West gained promotion to the 2023/24 Motsepe Foundation Championship after winning their ABC Motsepe National Playoffs semi-final matches on Friday (9 June 2023) afternoon in Pietermaritzburg.

Upington City beat Mpheni Home Defenders of Limpopo 3-2 on penalties after a 1-1 draw in the first semi-final of the day, while Orbit College broke many hearts in a crowded Harry Gwala Stadium when they beat local side Umsinga United 1-0 in the second semi-final.

Upington City will now face Orbit College in the 2023 ABC Motsepe National Playoffs Final on Sunday, 11 June 2023 for the bragging rights and the prize money of R1 2000 000.

The runners-up will walk away with R600 000. This match will be played at the Harry Gwala Stadium at 15h00 and will be live on SABC 1.
