Balé Trains Thirty Youths in Recycling Used Tires into Furniture

Boromo – In an effort to promote green jobs and combat youth unemployment, the Balé provincial directorate of youth and professional training held a training session in Boromo from December 8 to 10, 2023. This session aimed at transforming used tires into utility objects and involved thirty young individuals from the municipality.

According to Burkina Information Agency, The training, which took place at the directorate, introduced these young people to the profession of recycling used tires into home and office furniture. Participants included students nearing the end of their studies, carpenters, and young unemployed residents of Boromo.

According to the learners, the training provided them with valuable knowledge and skills in recycling. Inoussa Zongo, a participant, expressed his fascination with the training. The session focused on “green jobs,” highlighting the potential employment opportunities in this environmentally-friendly sector.

After the three-day training, the participants showcased their newly acquired skills by creating seats and tables from used tires, enhanced with rags and covered in the locally sourced “koko donda” fabric.

Moussa Seré, the provincial director of youth and professional training, shared the learners’ satisfaction with the training outcomes. He remarked, “This training is a springboard for the promotion of green jobs and the fight against youth unemployment in the municipality of Boromo.” Seré also praised the participants’ enthusiasm and the impressive results they achieved in just three days.

The learners and trainers presented their work to Ibrahim Boly, the High Commissioner of Balé province, and Esaï Bamogo, the president of the special delegation of Boromo. The authorities expressed their satisfaction with the training results and the tangible products created by the participants.

High Commissioner Boly expressed hope that such training sessions could become regular occurrences, benefiting a larger number of young people. He encouraged the youth to further develop their skills and apply them in professional settings.

Following the training, the young participants received orders for furniture, inspiring them to consider establishing a joint production workshop. The provincial director noted that the success of this training session was made possible through the support of the provincial youth council and the Boromo town hall.
