Burkina: “Africa Infrastructure Forum”, a financing opportunity for the infrastructure sector, Minister Sorgho

Minister Adama Luc Sorgho said on Monday that the “Africa Infrastructure Forum”, scheduled from August 31 to September 2, 2023 in Ouagadougou, is an opportunity to mobilize funding for the infrastructure sector.

“The objective of the Africa Infrastructure Forum is to bring together all the stakeholders in infrastructure financing in Africa to discuss issues related to the sector, to forge partnerships and formulate solutions to the difficulties encountered”, indicated the Minister of Infrastructure and Opening Up, Adama Luc Sorgho.

According to him, this forum will bring together around one thousand (1000) guests and specifically, it will be a question of taking stock of infrastructure projects, their financing needs and establishing partnerships for their mobilization. .

Sorgho reported that it is in partnership with the Cabinet BITEL GROUP, that the Government of Burkina Faso took the decision relating to the organization, of “Africa Infrastructure Forum”, pan-African event on the financing of infrastructures in Africa.

“Africa Infrastructure Forum” will be held from August 31 to September 02, 2023 at the International Conference Center of Ouaga 2000, under the theme: “Investing in African infrastructure to impact the continental free trade area”, he added. .

The Minister of Infrastructure and Opening Up, Adama Luc Sorgho spoke on Monday August 28, 2023, in Ouagadougou during a press conference to announce the opening in the coming days of the “Africa Infrastructure Forum”.

He also specified that this forum is placed under the very high patronage of the President of the Transition Ibrahim Traoré, under the chairmanship of the Minister in charge of Infrastructures and under the sponsorship of the CEO of the Ebomaf group, Mahamadou Bonkoungou.

The Minister informed that this forum will bring together representatives of the governments of African countries, multilateral financing structures, cooperation agencies, regional and international organizations and umbrella organizations of infrastructure actors.

“For three (03) days, several themes according to various centers of interest will be the subject of a call for contributions and will be debated during the forum. This will be infrastructure governance (integration into the ecosystem, management process, subsidy approaches, procurement, administration, finance, production of statistics, etc…)”.

“Infrastructure financing, best practices of public-private partnerships in the infrastructure sector, capacity building of infrastructure actors (equipment, training, awareness)”, he concluded.
