UN Security Council Extends UNSOM Mandate for One Year

NEW YORK, UNITED STATES: Today, at the United Nations Headquarters, the UN Security Council unanimously voted to renew the UN Assistance Mission in Somalia (UNSOM) for another 12 months.

According to Somali National News Agency, the mission will continue to focus on support for Somalia’s state and peacebuilding and reconciliation until the next mandate is due in one year.
