Burkina Faso Army Targets Terrorists Near Niger Border

OUAGADOUGOU – The Burkinabè military successfully neutralized several terrorists on Tuesday as they attempted to flee towards the Nigerien border in a pick-up vehicle, security sources revealed to AIB.

According to Burkina Information Agency, this operation comes in the wake of a military strike against terrorists on February 25, 2024, who had attacked the town of Tankoualou in the Eastern region of Burkina Faso. Despite the initial success of the operation, some attackers were still at large.

On February 27, 2024, military forces detected the remaining terrorists attempting to escape towards Niger. The individuals were traveling in a pick-up, navigating the rugged terrain at high speeds. However, their attempt to flee was thwarted when a missile launched by the Burkinabè army struck their vehicle, resulting in the destruction of the pick-up and the demise of the terrorists onboard in a fiery explosion.
