Narok Huduma Centre Extends Government Services to Over 600 Residents in Ololulunga Trading Centre

Narok—In an outreach initiative that benefited more than 600 people at the Ololulunga Trading Centre in Narok South Sub-county, the Narok Huduma Centre staff provided essential government services to residents who otherwise might not have access to them.

According to a new release by Kenya News Agency, Ms. Naserian Katampoi, the initiative, called ‘Huduma Mashinani,’ aimed to make critical services accessible to people who could not afford the journey to Narok town where the main offices are located. The services offered ranged from national registration and civil registration to the National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA), along with the reporting of lost documents, obtaining police abstracts, and free health consultations.

The outreach ran from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., with the majority of those served seeking birth certificates and National Identification cards. Katampoi indicated that the community had requested an extension of the program due to its success.

Narok South Deputy County Commissioner, Felix Kisalu, who launched the program, emphasized that the main goal was to bring government services closer to the people. He urged residents to utilize such platforms to benefit from government offerings, particularly since the services were provided free of charge.

Kisalu also clarified that residents should not have to pay bribes to be served. “If you are asked to pay for any services, then you should be provided with an official receipt,” he stated.

The beneficiaries expressed their appreciation for the initiative, citing the convenience it offered. Antony Mintilla, a resident of the Melelo area near Ololulunga Trading Centre, commended the professionalism of the officers involved and underscored the significance of having such services brought closer to the community. “Most of them could not afford to travel all the way to Narok town. We thank the government for such an initiative,” Mintilla said.
