Rundu Woman Found Murdered, Police Investigate

Rundu – A 46-year-old woman was found dead with multiple stab wounds at the Tumweneni Sewer Works in Rundu on Sunday, in a case that has shocked the local community. The Namibian Police Force has launched an investigation into the incident, which is being treated as a homicide.

According to Namibia Press Agency (NAMPA), Deputy Commissioner Bonifatius Kanyetu, the crime investigations coordinator for the Kavango East Region, informed Nampa on Tuesday that the deceased, who worked as a security guard, was discovered with stab injuries inflicted by a sharp object. The incident is believed to have occurred between 21h00 and 23h00 near the Ndama and Tumweneni residential areas.

Kanyetu disclosed that the woman was last seen alive on Sunday after finishing her shift at the security company around 06h00. Her body was later found in the early hours of Monday at the sewage yard by a passerby, who promptly alerted the police. Further reports suggest that the woman was raped before she was murdered.

In connection with the case, a 38-year-old man, identified as the woman’s boyfriend, has been arrested and is currently being detained for interrogation as a person of interest. The police have notified the woman’s next of kin and are continuing their investigation to uncover more details about the crime and the circumstances leading to her death.
