Tlhabane Police Arrest Five for Multiple Offenses Including House Robbery and Murder

Potchefstroom—In a Crime Intelligence driven operation, Tlhabane police have arrested five suspects ranging in ages from 18 to 39 for a series of crimes. The arrests occurred on Friday, 20 October 2023, in Yizo-Yizo informal settlement and Lefaragatlhe village.

According to a new release by South African Police Service, the suspects were arrested for house robbery, murder, possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, and possession of a dangerous weapon. The arrests stem from a house robbery that took place in Tlhabane on 15 October 2023. Subsequent investigations led to information about possible suspects and their arrest. Among the items recovered were an okapi knife, suspected stolen cell phones, and an unlicensed revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition.

Four of the arrested suspects are Lesotho nationals who also face charges for contravening the Immigration Act of 2002. The fifth suspect, aged 18, was arrested for drug possession and dealing. All five are expected to appear before the Tlhabane Magistrate’s Court today.

Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, the Provincial Commissioner, praised the police for their efforts, stating that the arrests serve as a warning to criminals.
