Titinga Fréderic Pacéré Awarded Golden Baobab 2024 in Ouagadougou

OUAGADOUGOU — Titinga Fréderic Pacéré was honored with the Golden Baobab 2024 award yesterday for his extensive contributions to promoting Burkinabè and African culture. The award ceremony took place at the National Center for Arts, Entertainment and Audiovisual (CENASA) in Ouagadougou.

According to Burkina Information Agency, the coordinator of the Golden Baobab, the award aims to recognize the cultural contributions of notable individuals within Burkina Faso during their lifetimes. Compaoré highlighted the importance of celebrating Master Pacéré’s achievements now, reflecting on his significant impact on the country and beyond. Valentin Kambiré, representing the Minister of Culture, also spoke at the event, describing Pacéré as a multifaceted personality whose life and work are deeply intertwined with the narratives of Burkina Faso and Africa as a whole.

Kambiré further elaborated on the symbolic importance of the Golden Baobab award in promoting national pride and cultural heritage. He used the metaphor of the termite mound, which enriches the soil as it grows, to illustrate how Pacéré’s legacy could support the development of a dignified and prosperous Burkina Faso and Sahel region.

During the ceremony, Pacéré expressed his gratitude for the recognition and encouraged further efforts to promote the nation’s cultural heritage. He reflected on the broader implications of recognition, noting that often individuals are only fully appreciated posthumously.

The event served not only as a celebration of Pacéré’s contributions but also as a reminder of the importance of acknowledging cultural leaders while they are still active. The Golden Baobab thus serves to both honor and preserve the legacy of Burkina Faso’s cultural figures.
